Attitudinal Healing in Hawai'i

What is the HCAH Community Wellness Program?

The Attitudinal Healing wellness concepts were first introduced in Hawaii in 1997. Since that time, more than 500 hundred Hawaii residents have been trained in attitudinal healing concepts by Drs. Jampolsky and Cirincione and center staff.

The Hawaii Center for Attitudinal Healing (HCAH) and the International Center for Attitudinal Healing are partnering to replicate the award winning Attitudinal Healing Community Wellness Program in Hawaii. Through an extensive program of peer-support groups, home and hospital visiting services, and education, developed over twenty-eight years, this program builds a community of support around individuals and families challenged by serious illness and other highly stressful situations.

The HCAH was incorporated as an autonomous non-profit 501(c)3 organization in 2001 to provide Attitudinal Healing services, resources and education throughout the island communities of Hawaii. Until 2004, The Hawaii Center for Attitudinal Healing (HCAH) operated as an all-volunteer agency. In May 2004, an executive director with twenty years experience in attitudinal healing was hired to expand the scope of services, provide consistent follow-up support to program participants and volunteers, and establish a stable, accessible source of assistance for people in crisis. An Attitudinal Healing Center has also been established within the Castle Wellness Center in Kailua.

Various forms of this program have been implemented in culturally diverse communities in twenty-three countries. Each has proven effective in addressing psychological stress associated with such common life experiences as illness, overwork, loss, aging, divorce, and bereavement. Attitudinal Healing Centers provides all direct services free of charge, so that the financial burden of illness or other crisis won't prevent families from seeking and receiving help.

The Hawai'i Center offers education and support programs in schools, hospitals, medical centers, prisons, state and county government agencies, and various other institutions on Oahu, Hawaii and KauaiIn locations on Oahu and neighbor islands. The Center provides a safe place where trained facilitators support individuals to explore new ways of viewing life’s challenges in a confidential and caring environment. In the groups, participants learn to support each other and to find peace of mind even in the most difficult circumstances.
